Agrometius from the Netherlands entered into partnership with precision spraying specialist Rometron. With that, Agrometius will take on distribution of WEED-IT precision spraying technology for the Benelux region and Germany.

The partnership includes WEED-IT Quadro (weed detection) and WEED-IT Aqurate (PWM technology) systems. With this step, Rometron aims to further strengthen the availability and support of Weed-IT in Western Europe.

“Agrometius has extensive experience in precision agriculture and operates with a strong focus on practical application. Their emphasis on service and support aligns with how we want to position WEED-IT” says Rometron CEO Roel de Jonge. “Agrometius aligns well with the application of WEED-IT technology in the market.”

The current generation of Weed-IT products is suitable for spot spray applications with boom widths of up to 48 meters. In countries such as Australia and North and South America, the technology has been in use for over fifteen years already. Rometron now also sees ample opportunities in Western Europe, partly due to the need for more precise chemical application and cost control under varying growing and weather conditions.

Practical applications

WEED-IT uses sensors that detect weeds and apply herbicide only where necessary. This enables site-specific weed control in crops such as sugar beets, onions, and corn. Combined with 25 x 25 cm-scale application maps, growers and contractors can further refine herbicide application. In addition, the integrated PWM technology can be used to perform full-field spraying more accurately and consistently.

For Agrometius, WEED-IT represents a strategic expansion of its precision agriculture portfolio. Due to the phasing out of crop protection products and increasing pressure on yields, the need for intelligent, data-driven spraying technology is growing.

Sales Manager Rob Baken: “With WEED-IT, we’re adding high-tech ‘Smart Spraying’ to our product range. Thanks to real-time ‘Green-on-Green’ detection and PWM control, the system automatically determines where and how much to spray for each plant. This makes it possible to drastically reduce the use of chemicals without compromising on effectiveness.

Rometron provides proven detection technology. Through this combination of high-tech and practical application, we deliver a solution that adds immediate value for growers, contractors, and manufacturers.”
