Clean Seed from Canada and Mahindra from India entered into full-scale manufacturing and global export of the Mini-Max smart seeder. The technology, developed by Clean Seed, recently went into production in both red and green colors at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility in India.

A ribbon cutting ceremony at the Mahindra works marked the realization of Clean Seed’s scalable technology in full production, through its strategic manufacturing partnership with Mahindra. Executives from both companies gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to honor a committed partnership, now delivering machines out of their production facility, with Mini-Max units being prepared for shipment to Mexico and Brazil.

Clean Seed’s executive delegation spent the week in India advancing the collaboration with Mahindra and government stakeholders. At Mahindra headquarters in Mumbai, the team met with senior leadership, including Mr. Jaydeep Desai, Head of Strategy & Business Development, Farm Machinery, to review production progress, export logistics, and strategies to support the finalization of India’s government subsidy program for advanced sustainable agricultural technologies, where Clean Seed’s technology has established a whole new category for the sector.

The trip culminated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility, where the SMART Seeder MINI-MAX production line was in full operation. The factory floor showcased completed machines, quality control testing, and export packaging protocols.

Partnership in motion

Ms. Anusha Kothandaraman, VP and Business Head for Farm Machinery, Mahindra & Mahindra, said: “At Mahindra, we are proud to partner with Clean Seed to bring a sustainable mechanized solution to farmers. This patented technology, coupled with Mahindra’s manufacturing ecosystem will positively impact both farmers and the environment.”

Graeme Lempriere, Chairman & CEO of Clean Seed Capital Group, added: “Seeing our  Mini-Max Smart Seeder in production on Mahindra’s floor was a proud moment for all involved, physical proof of years of innovation, collaboration, and belief in our vision to deliver sustainable agricultural seeding and planting solutions around the world. I’m grateful to both the Clean Seed and Mahindra teams whose hard work and commitment made this partnership a success. Their dedication and professionalism reflect exactly what this collaboration stands for, innovation, trust, and sustainability working together at scale.”

Mr. Jaydeep Desai, Head of Strategy & Business Development Farm Machinery at Mahindra & Mahindra, remarked: “The Mini Max Seeder is an innovative no-till, multi-crop seed drill designed to sow a wide variety of grains such as rice, wheat, soy, maize, and cotton. With its patented technology, it reduces fertilizer inputs and seed waste, significantly improving farm profitability. Its zero-till functionality allows seeding directly into tough paddy residue, eliminating the need for stubble burning. With the capability to perform Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR), the machine ensures substantial water savings and a reduction in greenhouse gases typically associated with traditional paddy transplanting. As a trailed machine, it can be easily operated by a 45 HP tractor, eliminating the need for a higher-horsepower model. Hence, the Mini Max Seeder provides farmers with an ideal solution for higher profitability and a cleaner, more sustainable environment.”

Noel Lempriere, VP of Marketing & Business Development for Clean Seed, stated:

“This milestone underscores the strength of our partnership with Mahindra and the execution of our capital-light global strategy. Together we are transforming innovation into scale, delivering proven, sustainable technology to farmers in new market.  With production active and shipments now moving to Mexico, Brazil, and soon Canada, the Mini-Max is a clear example of our shared mission to advance the future of sustainable farming worldwide.”

Shared vision on sustainability

Together, Clean Seed and Mahindra are advancing a shared vision on sustainability, delivering technologies that reduce input dependency, promote regenerative soil practices, and increase crop production, strengthening the resilience of global food systems. This partnership reflects a joint commitment to progress, combining Canadian innovation with Indian manufacturing excellence.

Clean Seed’s partnership with Mahindra exemplifies the growing collaboration between Canada and India in sustainable technology and advanced manufacturing. As both nations expand their cooperation in innovation and agri-technology under the Indo-Pacific strategy, this partnership demonstrates the potential of combining Canadian agricultural innovation with India’s high quality manufacturing ecosystem to deliver meaningful impact for farmers worldwide.
