The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) is distributing farm machines to qualified farmers’ cooperatives so they can also provide services to farms in need of mechanized technologies, according to a publication in The Manila Times.

The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) have executed an agreement to level up the capabilities of cooperatives in adopting farm mechanization and to operate as farm machinery service providers.

To improve the entrepreneurial capabilities of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program beneficiaries, PHilMech and CDA officially inked a memorandum of agreement (MoA) during the agency’s 43rd anniversary celebration.

The MoA on the project “Entrepreneurial Capability Enhancement of the FCA Beneficiaries of the RCEF-Mechanization Program” was signed to help both parties in the attainment of mandates, ensure sustainable operation and utilization of distributed farm machinery under the program.

Provision of memorandum of understanding was signed last March 10 followed by joint project development workshops, which identifies the areas of cooperation of PHilMech and CDA.

This includes the (1) conduct of collaborative studies and research on postharvest technology and agri-machinery development and application; (2) conduct and facilitation of workshops, training courses, learning sessions and exhibitions; (3) exchange of experts or provision of technical support and other related activities.
