A tractor doing the work without using diesel fuel and no engine noise. That’s the idea behind the Moonrider T 27, an all-electric tractor designed for farmers who want a quieter, lower-cost alternative to traditional compact tractors. It can even be charged off-grid.
GoSun in the US is partnering with India-based electric tractor manufacturer Moonrider to bring the full electric compact tractor to North America. The compact 27 HP electric tractor model starts at USD 19,995, with an optional solar configuration that allows it to capture energy from the sun, enabling off-grid charging.
GoSun is positioning the tractor as competitively priced, compared with conventional diesel tractors while eliminating gasoline/diesel fuel costs. Zero tailpipe emissions and near-silent electric operation are particularly relevant around livestock, residential properties, and small farms. The tractor can also function as a mobile power source for tools, pumps and other equipment when equipped with the optional power-generation system.
GoSun sees compact electric machinery as an emerging alternative for small farms, homesteaders and property managers who don’t necessarily need a large conventional tractor. The company will unveil the tractor to the North American market at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, IA USA, this coming September 1–3.
