Metsjö now offers EU type approval (Category R) for its tractor-drawn trailers and hooklift trailers, including the MetaQ, MetaFlex and MetaK series. The approval covers both 40 km/h and 60 km/h, enabling higher transport speeds and full regulatory compliance across Europe, while also simplifying registration and cross-border use within the EU.
The EU type approval is available as an optional feature, allowing each trailer to be configured according to local regulations and operational requirements.
Built for high-speed transport, EU-approved Metsjö trailers are equipped with:
- ABS braking system
- Load-sensing air brakes
- Intelligent Trailer Safety system with RSS (Roll Stability Support)
- Side marker lights with integrated indicators as standard
These systems ensure safety, stability and visibility, even at increased transport speeds.
European compatibility
Metsjö combines a customer-specific configuration with a well-developed platform designed for European compatibility. This allows operators to tailor their equipment while maintaining compliance across different markets.
The product range includes 2-, 3- and 4-axle trailers, with tyre configurations from 455/40 22.5 up to 710/50R 30.5 and 800/45R 30.5, ensuring optimal performance in both field and road conditions.
EU type-approved configurations are available for maximum laden masses of up to 44 tons (4-axle trailer) and transport volumes of up to 60 cubic meters, depending on local regulation, supporting high-capacity, long-distance transport with fewer trips and improved overall efficiency.
Metsjö trailers are also characterized by low tare weight. For example, a 4-axle hooklift trailer weighs approximately 6 tons, enabling a payload of up to 38 tons within legal limits – maximizing transport efficiency per trip.
Regulatory requirements
“Introducing EU type approval for both 40 and 60 km/h is an important step in supporting more efficient transport across Europe. Our focus is to provide well-engineered solutions that deliver performance, safety and reliability in real working conditions,” says Anders Ivarsson, CEO Metsjö.
Metsjö continues to strengthen its presence across European markets in close cooperation with established partners, ensuring that its solutions meet both regulatory requirements and operational demands.
