Double hopper offers more options

Cultivation practices are becoming more diverse: crop rotation, establishment of multi-species cover crops, spot fertilization, surface tillage and simultaneous seeding. The new universal TF 2300 C double front hopper from Kuhn, coupled with a seed drill, a precision seed drill or stubble cultivator, allows meeting these expectations.

The TF 2300 C front hopper, with a total capacity of 2360 litres, is divided into two compartments (60% / 40%). This configuration allows, in a single pass, to establish a plant cover with several precisely dosed species, deliver starter fertilizer or immobile mineral nutrients as close as possible to the seed or protect the seedlings from pests such as slugs. For users looking for maximum autonomy, it is also possible to load both hopper compartments with the same product. The double hopper can easily be filled using a front loader or telescopic forklift. Its low, compact design provides excellent visibility on the road and in the field.

Its new Optiseed cassette metering unit, coupled with a pressurized hopper, offers a wide range of application rates, up to 500 kg/ha at 15 kph. Each hopper compartment is equipped with two independent metering units. The two products, dosed individually, can be mixed (single shot) or distributed separately (double shot). An agitator facilitates the flow of difficult seeds. Changing the cassette is quick and easy and requires no tools. During this operation, closing the guillotine hatch separates the cassette from the seeds. The calibration test is an easy task, just by pushing a button, positioned near the metering units. Once the weight is entered into the terminal, the motor takes care of the rest by automatically adjusting the speed of the metering units.

This new hopper can be equipped with a supporting frame or the new front packer, which includes:

  • Four large diameter wheels (Ø 822 mm) reducing running resistance and offering excellent clearance capacity.
  • A radial structure improves the hopper bearing capacity and limits compaction.
  • A built-in weight holder can be fitted with up to 800 kg.

The front hopper is managed via the ISOBUS VTI 60, CCI 800, CCI 1200 terminals or any other ISOBUS terminal already available. Automatic seed and fertilizer opening and shut-off by GPS, independent application rate modulation of seeds and fertilizer linked to the soil potential through a prescription map, possibility of transferring the data to the farm management software via Agrirouter. This new ISOBUS hopper offers these possibilities.
