ARAG introduces Flowtron in its High Pressure (HP) version for orchard sprayers, developed in collaboration with Black Shire and a new control method for section shut-off using ultrasonic sensors installed directly on the tractor. This solution was engineered in collaboration with Landini.

The new ARAG Flowtron HP is specifically designed for high-pressure applications on orchard sprayers, going beyond the standard low-pressure boom configuration. The system, capable of operating at up to 20 bar, enables nozzle-by-nozzle management, optimizing the distribution of crop protection products through PWM-controlled valves that allow for independent dose regulation.

The system was demonstrated recently on a Dragone sprayer paired with the autonomous RC3075 Black Shire robot. Efficiency is further enhanced through integration with Viewer, an AI powered camera system from Greek start-up Eden Core. Viewer detects canopy presence and condition in real time and transmits the data to ARAG’s IBX100 control unit for targeted and precise treatment applications.

“Our goal is to offer solutions that meet the growing demand for sustainability and precision, especially as regulations on the use of crop protection products become increasingly stringent,” said Francesco Bursi, Application Manager at ARAG.

Tractor-Implement Integration

The second project unveiled at the recently held Enovitis event, is the result of collaboration with Landini and demonstrates a new level of integration between tractor and implement. Instead of placing ultrasonic sensors on the sprayer itself, they are mounted on the tractor, enabling a new control logic that uses advanced canopy detection data.

The second project unveiled at the Enovitis show is the result of collaboration with Landini and demonstrates a new level of integration between tractor and implement.

Instead of placing ultrasonic sensors on the sprayer itself, they are mounted on the tractor, enabling a new control logic that uses advanced canopy detection data. integration is made possible by ARAG’s ISOBUS Multirow system, based on the IBX100 control unit and fully compatible with tractors equipped with a Virtual Terminal.

Combined with the Ultrapilot autonomous driving system, developed by Argo Tractors, the tractor can follow the vine row autonomously and transmit real-time vegetation data to the ISOBUS system, which automatically shuts off sections when there is no canopy or at the end of the row.

“This is a groundbreaking innovation that optimizes treatments without the need for GPS or pre-generated maps, improving efficiency while reducing waste and environmental impact,” noted Francesco Annunziata, Project Manager at Argo Tractors.

Shared vision for connected agriculture

“The Flowtron HP and ISOBUS Multirow projects demonstrate how collaboration between tech players can generate practical, operational solutions that enhance both sustainability and the competitiveness of wine producers,” stated Chiara Gaeta, Marketing Manager. “ARAG continues to invest in the development of intelligent systems that represent the future of precision agriculture.”
