SILOKING Mayer Maschinenbau GmbH is strengthening its supply chain management structure with the appointment of Oliver Schäfer as Head of Logistics, effective 15 October 2026. The move forms part of a broader organisational strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency, streamlining decision-making and supporting the company’s continued international growth.
Schäfer, who brings more than 20 years of experience in the agricultural machinery industry, has joined SILOKING’s management team with an extensive background in production, financial controlling and international procurement.
His responsibilities will expand from 1 January 2027, when he will also take charge of the company’s procurement operations, bringing two strategically important functions under unified management.
Integrating Logistics and Procurement
The reorganisation is designed to strengthen coordination across SILOKING’s supply chain, from purchasing and material availability to internal logistics and production support.
By combining procurement and logistics under a single management structure, the company aims to improve communication between departments, optimise operational processes and ensure a reliable flow of materials to its manufacturing operations.
This integrated approach is expected to provide greater efficiency in supply chain planning and execution, while creating a more responsive organisational structure capable of supporting the company’s future development.
Schäfer will succeed Karl-Michael Stieglbauer, who is scheduled to retire on 31 December 2026. The transition includes a handover period of more than two months, allowing for a structured transfer of knowledge and responsibilities before the new management arrangement becomes fully operational.
A New Chief Supply Chain Officer Role
The organisational changes will continue in 2027, with SILOKING planning to appoint Schäfer as Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), effective 1 April 2027.
The planned appointment will elevate procurement and logistics to the company’s C-level leadership structure, reflecting their growing strategic importance within SILOKING’s operations.
The creation of this position is intended to strengthen the integration of supply chain functions into the company’s broader management strategy, ensuring that procurement, material supply and logistics are closely aligned with production requirements and long-term business objectives.
For SILOKING, the restructuring represents another step in its organisational development. Clearer responsibilities, shorter decision-making processes and closer cooperation between departments are expected to improve operational effectiveness and provide a stronger foundation for international expansion.
With the new management structure, the German manufacturer aims to reinforce the reliability and efficiency of its supply chain while preparing its operations for future market and production requirements.
