The 500 Vario series from Fendt has been on the market since 2011 with over 25,000 tractors in operation in Europe, North America and Australia. Now the German manufacturer introduces the fourth generation (Gen4) of this series with a full range of upgrades.
The newly developed, fourth generation features the AGCO Power CORE50 engine, Fendt Dynamic Performance across (DP) all models and VarioDrive. The entire concept is designed for high payload and drawbar capacity. For the first time in the class of compact standard tractors, innovative features such as independent four-wheel drive, tyre pressure regulation system, Trailer Brake Assistant, drawbar lighting or reversible fan is available.
With four models (Fendt 513, 514, 515 and 516 Vario), the Fendt 500 Vario Gen4 series covers the maximum performance range from 134 to 164 hp (99 – 121 kW). The intelligent Fendt Dynamic Performance (DP) added power concept releases an additional 10 hp (7 kW) for all models if parts such as PTO, fan, compressed air supply or air-conditioning require additional power. Fendt DP specifically compensates for the additional power requirement. The consistent work performance ensures higher productivity in soil cultivation, transport or PTO work when stationary with slurry mixer or feed mixer.
The 4-cylinder AGCO Power CORE50 engine with 5 liters cubic capacity combines the well-known Fendt iD low-speed concept with a nominal speed of only 1,900 rpm with a high torque at a maximum of 792 Nm on the top Fendt 516 Vario model. Exhaust gas after-treatment takes place via a diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC), diesel particulate filter (DPF) and with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) without exhaust gas recirculation. It meets all applicable emission standards worldwide, and in Europe this is the Level V emission standard. The CORE 50 engine is approved for HVO100 and fuels according to DIN 15940. If the machine is operated with HVO, the CO2 footprint of the machine can be significantly reduced.
The single-stage Fendt VarioDrive TA120 drive has permanent, independent four-wheel drive. This enables maximum tractive power with high soil protection on different subsoils and in curves. In addition, there is no need for manual shifting when switching between field and road. VarioDrive drives the front and rear axles independently of each other and distributes the power dynamically via Fendt Torque Distribution. Another advantage of VarioDrive is the so-called pull-in-turn effect.
