Fine cut for next level bale

In response to the growing demand for shorter-cut silage, Kuhn launches a fine-cut system for VBP 7100 series baler-wrapper combinations. This system, delivering a 34 mm theoretical cutting length, is designed to enhance forage production efficiency and quality.

The new Opticut 33 intake system features 33 knives that deliver a 34 mm theoretical cutting length. Shorter cutting improves mixability of the bale and the cow’s feed intake, for higher milk yields. Smaller particles also allow for higher bale densities, improving bale preservation and quality. Additionally, cutting forage beforehand during baling is more efficient than using a mixer wagon, saving on fuel and reducing wear and tear.

Kuhn’s smart solutions ensure each of the 33 knives is correctly positioned. The pro-active knife cleaning technology automatically cleans all knives, including non-active ones, after a set number of bales. The knives do not jam and can be replaced easily. When hitting an object, each knife can retract individually. Knife position is enforced in both cutting and noncutting positions.

With one press on the terminal, the knives are cleaned an additional three times, and knives and Dropfloor are automatically positioned to open the knife cassette. Operator convenience is offered by the user-friendly sliding knife cassette, which can be pulled out in one single movement without any tools. Designed for maximum capacity and durability, the VBP 7100 series features an upgraded driveline layout for high-capacity fine cutting. The combination of the evolved integral rotor with “Durasteel” rotor tines and the extra-wide heavy-duty pick-up ensures optimal performance.
