Ascenso invests in VF technology

Advanced tread designs and extra strong casing with high performance steel belts, are the two major features in a new range of VF tyres from Ascenso.  Across the full range, the new tyres will shortly be available in 63 sizes. 

Providing good traction, improved roadability, high load carrying capacity and better soil protection, the architecture of the V-range is supported by Ascenso’s new generation VF technology, meeting the standard VF definition of 40% more load than a standard radial tyre, or the same load at 40% less pressure. Tyres for tractors, self-propelled sprayers, and implements such as air seeders are included at launch.

“The introduction of the V-range reflects the changing expectations that farmers have of their tyres,” says Dhaval Nanavati, CEO of Ascenso Tyres.

“They’ve always demanded a lot: load capacity, traction, transition between field and road use without compromise, exceptional wear and durability. But these days there is added expectation around factors such as fuel efficiency, soil health and changing tillage practices. These aspects are directly addressed by this new generation VF technology.”

The new Advance Tread Design, with its wider and longer footprint when operating at low pressure, allows more lugs to act together at the same time. This provides more gripping edge to ensure excellent traction with minimum amounts of slip, thus reducing fuel consumption, while substantially reducing the soil stress and compaction.

New lug geometry ensures greater overlap of lugs, which leads to a smoother, more comfortable road ride, and the unique mud breakers on these tyres provide excellent self-cleaning properties.

The specially designed VIR2500 implement tyre gets a new block-tread design, also engineered to focus on optimum traction and soil protection. It features a unique center element rib, which improves steering capability and enhances lateral traction.

All these tyre types employ a new extra-strong casing, featuring high-performance steel belts to deliver a radially stiffer carcass. This promises operators better impact resistance and stress absorption, and a quicker return to shape, delivering extended durability. All tyres in the range support lowered pressures of up to 40%.

“Our focus on longer tyre life is also behind the development of the new Special Stubble Resistant (SSR) compound,” notes Mr Nanavati. “The rapid adoption of no-till and min-till practices means more operations now take place in stubble fields, increasing the wear and tear potential on tyres.”

“Both the VDR2000 tractor tyre and the VIR2500 implement tyre are fabricated from SSR, a technical rubber compound that offers vastly improved protection in the field, reducing the downtime caused by punctures or other tyre damage.”

The full range comprises the VDR2000 tractor tyre; the VDR900 and VDR901 self-propelled sprayer tyres; and the VIR2500 implement tyre. All tyres are available in a variety of sizes, 50 across all types. A further 13 sizes will be added in the next three months.
