CNH Industrial celebrates 10 years of manufacturing in Argentina by investing more than US$ 30 million. The company celebrates the anniversary of the Ferreyra plant in the city of Córdoba with investments in new products. Focus will be on artificial intelligence.
On May 7, 2013, CNH Industrial kicked off what is today a modern plant that meets high manufacturing standards and produces machinery for its customers in Argentina. With an initial investment of US$ 450 million, the story dates back to 2011, when the foundations were laid for what would become the current factory, with a production capacity of 2,000 harvesters and 4,000 tractors per year.
“This anniversary makes us proud and invites us to redouble our efforts to continue being one of the major manufacturers of agricultural machinery in Argentina. We want to continue contributing to the growth of the Argentine economy and create employment in the country by investing in technology, training personnel and strengthening our local supply chain,” said Marcus Cheistwer, Country Manager of CNH Industrial in Argentina.
From 2021, the company is investing around US$ 30 million, to continue developing engineering, manufacturing, product marketing, in addition to new service points and investment in real-time monitoring centers for Case IH and New Holland. Among the main objectives of the investment in the plant are the improvement of production flows, increase in production capacity, expansion of warehouses and generation of new jobs.
With a strong focus on the safety and comfort of its employees, CNHi developed a new fire rescue system. Investments in the manufacturing area included new electronic tools and the relocation of cabins to improve the internal flow.
In the Logistics area, in order to improve plant flows and achieve greater resource efficiency, new industrial vehicles for supply and storage were acquired to achieve greater efficiency in storage capacity, taking advantage of vertical space with the installation of high storage systems.
Also new, is a testing facility for combine harvesters that are equipped with artificial intelligence. This includes advanced software that allows a comprehensive check of the technological components and sensors in the machines.
The investment also involves improvements in the plant’s Training and Innovation Center, where more than 2,500 technicians from Argentina and other Latin American countries are trained annually.
Another highlight is the inauguration of the New Holland Agriculture Intelligence Center and the Case IH AFS Connect Center. These remote monitoring and diagnostic centers operate in the plant and provide real-time customer service with the support of highly qualified specialists.
Artificial intelligence: the future of agriculture, today
The use of artificial intelligence in agricultural machinery has revolutionized the sector thanks to the integration of sensors, machine learning algorithms and systems that allow the collection, processing and analysis of data for decision-making in the field.
CNH Industrial, through its Case IH and New Holland brands, manufactures combine harvesters in Córdoba that incorporate this technology with a view to improve efficiency and precision, reduce operating costs and increase crop yields.
The Axial Flow Series 250 line of harvesters features AFS Harvest Command, an intelligent system with four harvesting modes that, thanks to 16 sensors positioned inside the machine, provides up to 15% more productivity, in addition to simplifying operation in the field. With these new features, the machine takes over 9 controls which were previously the responsibility of the operator. It is now up to the operator to choose between Grain Quality, Balanced Performance, Maximum Yield and Fixed Yield modes. The machine will prioritize this choice through its self-regulation. This system is capable of providing up to 1,800 daily interventions during the harvesting operation.
The New Holland CR 7.90 Intellisense combine harvester is equipped with the MY PLM Connect connectivity, the platform that allows remote monitoring and management of the field, fleet and data, at any time and from anywhere, optimizing time and improving productivity. Thanks to its integrated sensors and technology, it is possible to read data every 20 seconds, making preventive adjustments as harvest conditions change.
Both Case IH and New Holland are currently in the process of expanding their dealer networks with the opening of new and modernization of their existing branches, the expansion of service areas, workshops and training technicians.
In this framework, for the period from 2021 to 2023, Case IH developed eight new projects with a focus on connectivity and the installation of the AFS Connect Center in its dealerships. In addition, the brand plans to continue expanding its influence in new regions with the opening of two new branches.
New Holland meanwhile, introduced the Smart Dealer concept, which aims to modernize dealerships through digitization, connectivity and the integration of key services through its Intelligence Central, which will soon reach every member of the network.
