Versatile to expand globally

Versatile is entering a new era of innovation and growth under the ownership of ASKO Holding from Turkey. Building on a legacy that began in 1966, the tractor and implement maker from Canada invests in modern manufacturing technology and further expands its reach on global markets.

Since its inception in 1966, Versatile made history as the first to mass-produce articulated four-wheel drive tractors with the D100 and G100 models. Over the decades, the company’s product line has evolved to meet the changing demands of global agriculture, while maintaining the core qualities that define the brand: durability and simplicity of service.

“At Versatile, our focus has always been to build equipment farmers can rely on, year after year,” said Zafer Ozbalaban, President of Versatile. “From research and development to engineering and production, every decision we make starts with the farmer in mind. That commitment is stronger than ever as we continue to build machines designed to stand the test of time.”

New era with ASKO Holding

ASKO Holding, under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Sami Konukoğlu, acquired a majority stake in Buhler Industries Inc., parent company of Versatile and Farm King, in December 2023. In March 2024, the company transitioned into private ownership under the family owned, ASKO Holding umbrella. Since then, the company has committed to long-term growth, including a planned investment over $25 million CAD for improvements and modern manufacturing equipment at Versatile’s 780,000-square-foot (72,000 m²) facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Over the past 19 months, Versatile has undergone a comprehensive transformation to strengthen its operations and competitiveness. This began with a deep review of company processes, leading to improved resource allocation, streamlined operations, and closer collaboration with dealers and customers to ensure their feedback shapes future development.

“We are positioning Versatile for the future,” said Mr. Ozbalaban. “This investment represents one of the most significant upgrades to our production capabilities in decades, ensuring we can continue delivering the quality and reliability that farmers expect from us. For generations, Versatile has been a trusted name for farmers across North America. Our goal is to honor that legacy, entering new markets, and strengthening Versatile’s position as a global supplier in agricultural equipment.”

Global expansion

Versatile tractors are engineered for reliability and straightforward maintenance, helping maximize uptime, extend machine life, and reduce operating costs all while delivering the power and simplicity of operation the brand is known for.

From the historic Winnipeg headquarters, Versatile manufactures a comprehensive range of agricultural solutions, including:

All Versatile products meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards, with select models available in Stage V EU and Tier 3 configurations to support export markets.

While Versatile remains a trusted name across North America and in established markets such as Australia, the company is now accelerating its international growth strategy, with a focus on Europe and other emerging markets. This global push will be highlighted at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, this November, where Versatile will showcase its latest lineup of tractors and tillage equipment.

The company views this event as a key step in expanding its Canadian-built machines into new regions and forging partnerships with dealers.

“We’re building for the future by supporting our current customers, growing into new regions, and partnering with the best suppliers and dealers in the business,” said Mr. Ozbalaban. “Versatile has always stood for reliability and strength, and we’re excited to bring that reputation to more farmers around the world.”
