Downs introduces its new CropVision Plus high-throughput sorter for unwashed potatoes. This new device enables optical sorting to meet the growing demands for precision and efficiency among potato producers.

Following the launch of CropVision in 2020, the upgraded CropVision Plus has undergone several improvements.

Eight-fold more powerful processors accelerate and optimize data processing, delivering high sorting performance. The system features advanced lighting technology for enhanced defect detection, ensuring optimal sorting for the most challenging potato varieties.

A newly designed user interface for improved ergonomics, simplifies operation and configuration for users of all levels. Connectivity features enable real-time monitoring, remote updates, and simplified data management for maintenance.

“With the CropVision Plus, Downs provides innovative solutions for potato producers, combining precision, speed, and user-friendliness,” says managing director Damien Dubrulle from Downs. “We have listened to our customers’ feedback and worked to integrate features that address the specific needs of our ever-evolving market.”

The upgraded version introduces new sorting and real-time monitoring capabilities. The update also expands sorting functionalities to include onions, opening new opportunities for producers.

It also improves sorting efficiency for unwashed potatoes and integrates specific AI-driven algorithms to adapt to diverse market requirements.

A key advancement is an onion sorting extension catering to producers seeking a versatile solution for sorting both potatoes and onions.  A real-time alert system ensures close monitoring of the sorting process, flagging anomalies or maintenance needs to optimize equipment performance. AI-driven assistance simplifies the adjustment of sorter settings, boosting efficiency and enhancing sorting quality.

A new operating system is exclusively compatible with the CropVision Plus range, featuring an intuitive interface designed for seamless operation akin to smartphone usage.

In addition, Down launches the MyCropVision app, an intuitive customer application accessible across all devices. It is designed to provide centralized access to all essential information for optimizing the use and management of optical sorters. Compatible with computers, tablets, and smartphones, MyCropVision marks a step forward in customer support.
