It was on the first day of the show that the Chinese giant unveiled its new ECVT tractor series to the public, combining hybrid powertrain technology and intelligent in-cab control. Developed in China, the new ECVT tractor series is designed to help farmers improve operational efficiency, optimize fuel consumption, and benefit from smarter, more comfortable mechanization solutions across a wide range of agricultural applications.

LOVOL: conquering new market share with smart hybrids

The LOVOL ECVT series utilizes a power-split hybrid system that intelligently coordinates the engine and electric drive, allowing the engine to operate more frequently within its peak efficiency range. The continuous variable transmission (ECVT) supports stepless speed adjustment from 0 to 40 km/h.

This allows power delivery to adapt to different operational demands, ensuring smooth performance across various load conditions. Compared to conventional models, the series can boost operational efficiency by over 30% and reduce fuel consumption by more than 20%. Actual results may vary depending on implement configuration, field conditions, operating methods, and driving style.

The advanced onboard intelligent control system integrates electronically managed chassis systems, headland management, automated route planning, implement lifting and turning, and automatic hill-hold parking. These driver-assistance functions help simplify operation, reduce repetitive tasks, and allow operators to focus more on the job at hand.

For long-hour operations such as seeding and tillage, the series features a three-stage vibration-damping structure comprising a suspended front axle, suspended cab, and air-suspended seat. This design helps minimize bumps and vibrations when working on rough terrain.

Combined with an intelligent armrest, an integrated control console, and an infotainment system, the design further enhances operator comfort and ease of use.

Weichai tradition alongside the new ECVT range

Under the hood of the LOVOL ECVT series roar Weichai engines, paired with an in-house developed, high-reliability ECVT transmission system. To meet the operational demands of the hybrid powertrain, the tractors feature a zonal temperature control system engineered to maintain system stability under varying working conditions.

The high-flow, load-sensing variable displacement hydraulic system delivers the required hydraulic power for heavy implements. The tractors can be paired with advanced seed drills, hydraulic reversible plows, and large land levelers, making them well-suited for demanding applications such as plowing, subsoiling (deep ripping), and land leveling.

To validate overall performance, the LOVOL ECVT series completed 2,000 hours of bench testing and field trials across an area of 200,000 mu (approx. 13,300 hectares). The trials included plowing, subsoiling, and seedbed preparation, establishing a solid baseline to evaluate product reliability and performance under real-world operating conditions.

The manufacturer has already shared that the next step for the new ECVT range is to enter the European market, aiming to offer European farms more efficient and intelligent mechanization solutions. However, regarding the exact timeline, no details have been released yet.
