With an annual production of around 200,000 tractors, TAFE is India’s second largest tractor manufacturer. “We are not just a strong player on the domestic market, but with our own TAFE brand also aim to be present on the world market in the sub 100 hp segment. The TAFE brand is our key asset”, says Chairman and Managing Director Mallika Srinivasan.

TAFE is the brand name and abbreviation of “Tractors And Farm Equipment”.  During global tradeshow Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, last November, the company from Chennai, India unveiled its next generation range of tractors, featuring hybrid, compact, and utility models for European markets. With that, the company reaffirmed its commitment to be amongst the global players in the tractor market in the sub 100 horsepower tractor category.

Currently, TAFE produces 200,000 tractors annually. This includes Massey Ferguson for India and parts of south-east Asia, sub brand Eicher Tractors, IMT Tractors and exports to more than 80 countries through its signature brand TAFE tractors.  In Europe, TAFE has achieved rapid expansion across the continent, supported by a growing network of dealers and partners with a strong focus on localized product development and after sales support, while offering automation and farm solutions across the product range.

“Over the past 65 years TAFE has built a robust reputation for reliability and quality to win the trust of customers”, says Mallika Srinivasan. “As one of the world’s major tractor manufacturers, we have worked closely in the recent past with European farmers to develop a deep understanding of their requirements around which our products are engineered. As a result, with a strong network of with over 200 dealers already across 20+ countries in Europe and an expanding range of tractors designed and built specifically for European farmers, we look forward to growth in these markets.”

Europe setting the trend

“TAFE aspires for global leadership in the sub 100HP, the largest volume segment in the world. Europe is clearly setting the trend, that’s why we are expanding our footprint from Europe”, Mallika Srinivasan continues.

“The industry in Europe brings smart, accessible and sustainable mechanization to farmers around the world. This is fully in line with our vision to “Cultivating the World”.  In Europe we had been present already for a longer period because of our strategic partnership with IMT tractors in Serbia (Industrija mašina i traktora). We have acquired this company in 2018, through which we have already gained strong market access to the southeastern part of Europe, the Balkan region. We don’t manufacture anymore in the IMT facility. All tractors for this area are sourced from our Chennai facilities and distributed in the Balkan region under both the IMT (Serbia) and our own TAFE brands.

Furthermore, TAFE has made significant investments in precision AgTech, smart farming, automation electrification and alternate energy technologies , while collaborating actively with the start-up and academic ecosystems to develop future ready products and farm solutions. Europe sets standards for the world in terms of style and comfort and sustainability. Europe is the gateway to tomorrow’s world of farm mechanization.

Since 2023 we have built strong presence with 13 distributors across 20 markets and as said before, currently we have a network of 200 dealers, achieving sales of more than 2,000 tractors in just two years. We are bringing to market a dynamic line-up, including the EVX75 Hybrid, EV28 Electric tractor, the new 100 HP utility tractor, and our 45-75 HP compact and orchard series, reflecting TAFE’s continuous focus on innovation, sustainability, and farmer-centric solutions for Europe. “

However, that’s not the end. Also we have a plant in Turkey and established a subsidiary in Mexico and inaugurated an Integrated Assembly Plant recently. With that, we underline our ambition to become an even stronger player on the global tractor market. With TAFE we are underway to the future”, Mallika Srinivasan concludes.
