Kuhn introduces the Karan, a new-generation trailed sprayer, offering a complete solution tailored to current demands of medium to large farms and agricultural contractors. The sprayer offers tank capacities of 4500, 5200, 6000 & 8000 liters. It is equipped with steel and aluminium booms, ranging from 18 to 45 meters.
With the Karan, every stage of the spraying process (filling, spraying, and rinsing) has been optimised for peak performance. For instance, the Autoset solution system, will enable tank filling at 900 L/min and spraying up to 500 L/min. Two 360° rotating nozzles ensure fast and thorough cleaning of the main tank.
The Karan can operate at speeds of up to 25 km/h, made possible by the new Eagle smart contour control system. This advanced technology package automatically adjusts and actively controls the boom, even under changing crop conditions or varying types of terrain, situations frequently encountered during spraying operations. Highly responsive, the Eagle system can operate as close as possible to the target to be sprayed (from 30 cm height). As a result, application height is consistently maintained under these variable conditions, even at high speeds, improving spray accuracy (overlap, drift, etc.) and delivering outstanding driving comfort in the field.
The Karan will be available in three levels of finish, allowing customers to choose the sprayer that best fits their needs, from the simplest operation to the most advanced features.
Protection key concept
Crop protection is the main task of a sprayer. The possibility to equip the Karan with the Autospray system, based on PWM technology and marketed by Kuhn since 2019, is a natural choice. This system delivers high spraying precision, with features such as independent nozzle control, compensation in curves, and the ability to maintain consistent droplet size across a wide speed range.
A new range of aluminum booms, named XEA3, will feature nozzle spacings of 50 cm or 25 cm. It will offer enhanced drift control, thereby allowing the spray to reach its target with even greater precision.
Soil protection is also a priority for this new machine. Soil compaction is minimized thanks to the sprayer’s reduced weight (5,690 kg for a Karan 6000 Power R with a 36 m boom), its high-performance Track-Matic steering axle and a complete range of VF tyres.
The Karan comes standard with a next-generation induction hopper, designed to combine simplicity, ergonomics, and performance. It can absorb up to 220 L/min of liquid product, minimizing the operator’s exposure time. For even greater protection, the hopper can be pre-equipped for CTS (Closed Transfer System) technology, allowing the contents of a container to be transferred directly into the sprayer tank without opening the container therefore without direct contact with the operator.
Also the sprayer is designed for daily ease of use. It features a centered vertical hydraulic stand, that simplifies the hitching process with the tractor. An optional hydraulic pump drive is available, offering a flexible and comfortable solution that notably allows easy coupling and simplified driving.
The Karan “Power” version can also be equipped with the “Diluset” solution system with automated management of filling, agitation, rinsing and assisted sequential dilution. This significantly reduces the risk of operator error and therefore lowers stress during use.
Ergonomics have been carefully designed to ensure the system is as intuitive as possible.
All displays whether on the screens in the cab or on the machine have been specifically developed for it. They offer a clear, intuitive interface and provide quick access to all essential information.
The machine is easy to handle. Its design makes optimal use of available space, resulting in a compact overall length: only 5 meters separate the hitch from the axle on Karan 5200 and 6000 models. Additionally, its “Track-Matic” steering axle offers a steering angle of up to 28°. This makes maneuvering easier, even in the tightest fields and helping to minimize crop damage.
Durable sprayer
The new Karan features several innovative and patented components. Maintenance of the pump, typically a time-consuming task due to disassembly, is now simplified with an integrated winch that allows removal in just 15 minutes. Additionally, the machine’s main tank is equipped with a removable sump and tank roof, which facilitate access to internal components without the need to enter the tank when required. Access to many parts of the machine is designed to make daily and periodic maintenance easier. All in all, the Kuhn Karan is a modern sprayer that meets the challenges of today’s professional crop production.
