Gripping the bale firmly

Krone offers a bale clamp for its VariPack round balers. It prevents the bale from rolling away out of control, especially on slopes. In addition as an option to new machines, the clamp is is also available as a retrofit feature.

VariPack machines are known for their high baling density and throughput. The fast bale ejection is a key feature, whereby the tailgate is opened and closed in less than five seconds. There is a disadvantage on slopes, however, if the bales roll away from the bale chamber out of control immediately after the baling process. To prevent this, Krone is offering a bale clamp for its VariPack and VariPack Plus balers. It is able to catch the bale to prevent it from rolling away, especially on slopes. Before the tailgate opens. the bale clamp is closed hydraulically so that the round bale is braked and fixed in place in the clamp. Then it can be opened under control to set the bale down safely.

The system has already been presented at last Agritechnica tradeshow on a VariPack baler. This was met with great interest, especially among customers from mountainous areas in southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Krone is therefore now offering this bale clamp as an option for all VariPack and VariPack Plus-machines. Existing machines can also be retrofitted with a bale clamp on request.
