LS Mtron and DY into electric carts

LS Mtron from Korea signed an MOU for expansion into the agricultural electric cart business, with industrial mobility company DY Innovate. Both companies will promote development and sales of agricultural electric carts in Korea and North America.

Agricultural electric carts are used to move between farm fields and to load and transport crops and farming equipment. Since the steering method is similar to that of a regular car, anyone can easily drive these carts. Unlike carts with internal combustion engines, electric carts emit no exhaust fumes, and produce less noise and heat. Another advantage is that they can easily be charged with a home 220V charger. In line with the trend toward motorization of mobility, the electric cart market is expected to grow steadily.

LS Mtron first entered the tractor business in 1977. The company introduced an autonomous tractor. Now LS Mtron plans to launch agricultural electric cart models.

DY Innovate produces and sells industrial vehicles such as electric golf carts, cranes, concrete pump cars, and automatic car washing machines. The company is accelerating its electric mobility business by starting sales of low-speed vehicles (LSVs) in the United States at the end of last year in the wake of its full-fledged entry into the Japanese golf cart market.

With the MOU with LS Mtron, the two companies expect to expand their cooperation to include the development of other electric mobility machines in addition to electric carts.

Lee Sang-min, head of LS Mtron’s Tractor Business Division: “By bringing together LS Mtron’s know-how in the ag machinery business and DY Innovate’s motorization technology, we aim to provide safe, handy electric farming carts to our customers.”
