Triple-axle hooklift trailer

Metsjö launches a three-axle hooklift trailer with a low build height of just 90 cm. The low design makes it possible to transport high containers legally, while maintaining stability, ground clearance, and a high level of safety. It is designed for 6 to 8 meter containers.

Equipped with 455/40 22.5 tyres, a total length of 9.1 meters, and a low unladen weight of just 5,800 kg, the hooklift trailer offers high payload capacity, reduced ground pressure, and lower fuel consumption.

The trailer features three axles with an axle spacing of cc 1,810 mm. Front and rear axles are automatically steered via HYDAC Adsteer, an automatic steering system that does not require any physical connection to the towing vehicle. This provides a manoeuvrable and compact trailer with a small turning radius – despite its ability to handle large containers within legal limits.

The combination of three axles, automatic axle steering, and hydraulic suspension with standard level control ensures high stability both during transport and when handling heavy containers, even on uneven terrain.

Safety and regulatory compliance

The hooklift trailer is equipped with a hydraulically extendable rear underrun protection system with integrated lighting, complying with the requirements of EU type approval 167/2013 for both 40 km/h and 60 km/h. The trailer is EU type-approved for operation at both speed classes.

The hydraulically suspended drawbar with adjustment allows the hooklift trailer to be used with tractors featuring varying hitch heights. Thanks to a telescopic tower, the vertical load on the towing vehicle can also be adjusted for optimal weight distribution.

To further relieve the tractor during container exchange, the trailer is equipped with hydraulic rear ground support, reducing negative drawbar load and increasing both safety and operator comfort.

The hooklift trailer delivers a tipping and hooklifting force of over 30 tons when handling 8-meter containers at an operating pressure of 210 bar. Its design is developed for daily operation, particularly in Nordic conditions. Operation goes via ISOBUS or radio control with LS, and can also be supplied with a separate hydraulic system for crane operation. This provides high flexibility and broadens the range of applications.
