The exhibition of agricultural technologies for India and Southeast Asia, organized by FICCI and FederUnacoma, concluded on 29 November. A strong turnout of visitors, with over 41,000 attendees. The event confirms its role as a major meeting point for the ag machinery business in the region.
The agricultural sector is one of the cornerstones of India’s production system. Agriculture contributes 18% to the country’s GDP and employs around half of the total workforce. The subcontinent is also among the world’s leading producers of food commodities. The remarkable development of the agricultural economy in recent years has also been supported by federal government policies that have encouraged the purchase of agricultural machinery. Between 1975 and 2017, the level of mechanization increased by 600%, rising from an average of 0.36 kW/ha to 2.48 kW/ha.
Today, India is the world’s largest market for tractors, with more than 900,000 units sold annually between 2021 and 2024. However, despite substantial investments in mechanical equipment, the modernization of Indian agriculture remains an ongoing process. The country still needs to bridge a significant gap between its different regions and crop types, some of which display technological levels that are inadequate for their actual needs.
This ongoing development is a solid reason for EIMA Agrimach to be the meeting place for professionals in the ag machinery business in India and Southeast Asia. The ninth edition of this international exhibition ended on a positive note. The event was held from 27 to 29 November at the IARI Pusa University Campus in New Delhi. Over the three days the organizers, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Italian Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (FederUnacoma), recorded more than 41,000 attendees in total; a figure that confirms the strong interest that the New Delhi event generates within India’s production sector and the neighbouring countries.
In addition to farmers and agricultural machinery dealers, the most represented groups, with a total of 24,000 professionals, EIMA Agrimach was attended by numerous institutional figures, members of the academic world, technicians, industry associations, representatives of cooperatives, and buyers. Visitors from various Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, Odisha and Telangana, were able to view machinery and systems specifically developed by the more than 180 exhibiting companies to increase the productivity of the Subcontinent’s agricultural economy, enhance production sustainability, and optimize the use of production inputs.
A significant number of economic operators were also present at the New Delhi event. Not only visitors from Nepal, Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Morocco, South Korea, Burkina Faso, Algeria and Oman, but also foreign delegations from Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, whose participation was organized by ICE in collaboration with FederUnacoma. During the first two days of the exhibition, the foreign delegations were engaged in business-to-business meetings.
The quality of the technologies on display, the content of the technical and political meetings held during the exhibition, as well as the interest in the practical demonstrations in the test field, confirm EIMA Agrimach as a key event for the entire region.
The next edition of EIMA Agrimech is scheduled for December 2027.
