Claas introduces the new Axion 9 tractor series in the high-HP segment. The seven-model lineup, with power outputs ranging from 330 to 450 hp, succeeds the Axion 900 series and features significant upgrades in comfort, automation, connectivity, efficiency, and serviceability.

The new Axion 9 series includes five wheeled models and two Terra Trac crawler versions. All Axion 9 models are equipped with the latest FPT Cursor 9 8.7-litre six-cylinder engines, offering torque up to 1,850 Nm. Key innovation is dynamic “Auto Droop”, which continually adjusts engine droop to varying load scenarios for optimal fuel efficiency and power delivery. Idle speed is lowered to 650 rpm, reducing fuel use and noise. Engines are certified for HVO renewable fuels, decreasing the carbon footprint by up to 90%.

Maintenance intervals have been significantly extended. Oil changes now every 750 hours, and major filter intervals increased by 150–300 hours. Combined with other optimization, service time is reduced by 50%.

Predictive drivetrain management

The CMATIC continuously variable transmission receives a new predictive, adaptive drivetrain management system, including Auto Load Anticipation, which senses upcoming load changes and adjusts power proactively. This results in smoother operation, enhanced stability, and lower fuel consumption. Claas earned an Agritechnica Silver Innovation Award for this system. An automatic trailer overrun brake and multiple driving modes (pedal, joystick, PTO) further support safe and flexible operation.

Two models (Axion 9.360 and 9.450) are available with Terra Trac track systems, featuring full suspension. These tractors deliver up to 50% more ground contact, reduced soil compaction, and improved traction, functioning as versatile year-round machines. Track widths from 457 to 890 mm allow use in diverse field conditions, including controlled traffic systems.

Comfort and visibility

The tractors debut a completely redesigned cab with 3 m³ of space, only 66 dB(A) noise level, better access, and premium seats with optional ventilation, heating, and massage. A 40-degree right swivel helps operators monitor implements. Up to three integrated cameras, a wide LED lighting system (56,000 lumens), and improved suspension enhance safety and operator comfort.

A new Cebis connect terminal system enables flexible use of two 12-inch touch displays, integrated GPS Pilot steering, and seamless compatibility with ISOBUS and Precision Farming tools. Extensive connectivity with CLAAS connect allows machine monitoring, order management, automated documentation, remote data access, and fleet analysis.

The Axion 9 series introduces Autonomy Level 2 through integration with  AgXeed Vehicle Control Unit (VCU). Pre-planned work orders can be executed fully automatically with autonomous steering, obstacle detection, task execution, and documentation, while the operator remains in the cab for supervision.
