Grammer will unleash its new Maximo XT driver’s seat for tractors and ag machinery. As the company’s first fully electric off-road driver’s seat, it brings the “Ultimate Comfort”, familiar from premium passenger car models, to ag machinery.

The new seat is not an update of the existing Maximo XT driver’s seat series, but a completely redesigned product, available in five different configurations. Thanks to its optional ISOBUS terminal operation, the all-electric Maximo XT fits all common tractors and ag machinery and, in addition to “Ultimate Comfort,” offers all the possibilities of digital connectivity, functionality and quality for long-lasting durability.

“With the Maximo XT, we are expanding the program for our aftermarket customers in the international markets with a comprehensive solution for comfort and functionality based on our latest driver seat technologies,” explains Thomas Schleuchardt, Senior Vice President Global Sales Commercial Vehicles, Grammer AG.

“The basis for what we call ‘Ultimate Comfort’ is our double-roll suspension. It offers the perfect balance of maximum friction minimization and reduced play. Thanks to the new suspension and automatic weight adjustment, the Maximo XT offers a safe and comfortable ride for all types of drivers. Its construction is also designed for heavy multifunctional armrests and attachments that make every day work easier.”

Five different versions of the Maximo XT will be available, featuring the following characteristics:
  • Fully electric ten-way seat adjustment: height, backrest, forward/backward, depth/tilt seat cushion via one control element. Ergonomically positioned, easy to reach and intuitive to operate.

  • Memory function: get in and restore the individually selected seat alignment at the touch of a button. Three memory positions.

  • Ready for digitalization thanks to CAN bus connection: settings and seat status can be operated/called up via customer-specific vehicle displays.

  • Optional operation via the ISOBUS terminal: if the Maximo XT is retrofitted, the seat can also be conveniently operated via the ISOBUS terminal. To do this, the seat cable, including the InCab T-connector, is connected to the InCab socket, and the graphical interface is installed automatically. The InCab socket remains available for additional devices.

  • Massage system: a two-chamber system in the seat surface ensures movement in the pelvis and lumbar spine. Six chambers in the back cushion massage the back muscles. This keeps the driver fit even during long periods of sitting, provides relaxation, and reduces stress levels.

  • Dual motion backrest for short backs: Upper half of the backrest rotates when looking backwards over the shoulder, particularly suitable for tractors.

  • Automatic weight adjustment: the Maximo XT automatically adjusts the suspension for every body weight. This function can be switched off and the suspension can be individually adjusted depending on the riding situation and terrain.

  • Optional active damping: an electronically controlled shock absorber ensures maximum suspension comfort and safety. Depending on the ride height and acceleration, the damper is adjusted to the current driving conditions within milliseconds. The driver can adjust the system to their needs using a 3-position rocker switch in the armrest.

  • Adjustable side contour of the backrest: Using an easy-to-reach switch, chambers in the backrest can be filled with air to keep the upper body stable when cornering or on a lateral incline.

  • Multi-stage seat heating and seat climate control: modern technology, just like in a car. Operated via buttons on the seat, with LED status display.

  • Integrated two-, three- and four-point belt systems for seats with long backrests: secure the driver in the seat for maximum safety. Maximum comfort is guaranteed by the Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR), which only closes in an emergency so that the belt gives way during “normal” movements.

The new Grammer Maximo XT seat will be unveiled during the upcoming Agritechnica international tradeshow, this coming November in Hanover, Germany.
