Grimme presents the fourth generation of the Varitron 470 four-row, self-propelled harvester for potatoes, onions and carrots. Customer requests have been implemented in the latest version of this high capacity machine.
The enlarged nonstop bunker is now also available in an XL version with a volume of 13 m³. Depending on the crop, its caliber and impurities, this corresponds to up to 11 tons, one of the largest in the machine class of 4-row self-propelled machines with roller separators and wheel chassis.
With a transfer width of 3.15 m and a transfer height of max. 4.60 m, large trailers are no problem. The patented bunker concept with a moving bunker rear wall enables fast and gentle crop transfer without stopping. At the same time, the reversibility of the bunker floor allows utilization of the complete bunker volume at any time during refilling.
Customers who want to fill boxes with high-quality (table-) potatoes directly during harvesting, have high demands for uniform box filling with maximum crop protection. To meet these requirements, a new ‘ConstantFlow bunker’ (with a capacity of approx. 5 tons and cart elevator) was developed, which can also be combined with a sorting table. The concept is therefore similar to the Varitron 220 Terra Trac.
For the new Varitron 470, the hydraulic drive power of the MultiSep has been increased by a further 25% and the adjustment options refined to meet the increased demands on cleaning performance and adaptability.
There are additional options available for extremely sticky soils, that improve operational reliability and separation performance. These include, for example, new rollers with more effective lips for the roller separator.
The harvester is powered by a Mercedes-Benz (MTU) engine with 340 kW/460 hp. Noteworthy features include the new X11 cab with CCI 1200 operator terminal and the SmartView video system.
