Tractor market India keeps growing

Tractor sales in India went up by 8.05% in July 2025, compared to July 2024, according to online trade platform Tractor Junction. 64,322 new tractors were sold, compared to 59,530 tractors in July 2024. Some companies sold more units and grew well, while others sold fewer and lost some market share. 

Growth of the market in India primarily points to improved farm activities, supported by timely rainfall and kharif sowing.

Mahindra & Mahindra kept its number one position by selling 26,990 tractors in July 2025. This is more than the 25,587 units sold in July 2024, showing a 5.48% growth. But its market share became a bit smaller, going down from 42.98% to 41.96%, which is a 1.02% drop over the year.

TAFE Group performed well, selling 11,671 units in July 2025. This is more than 10,284 units sold in the same month last year. The brand saw a 13.49% growth, and its market share also increased from 17.28% to 18.14%, which means a 0.87% growth over the year.

International Tractors Ltd (Sonalika) sold 7,715 units in July 2025. This is a small increase from 7,493 units sold in July 2024, giving a 2.96% growth. But the market share dropped a little from 12.59% to 11.99%, showing a 0.59% decrease over the year.

John Deere India had a strong sale of 6,757 units in July 2025, which is more than the 5,614 units sold last year. This shows a 20.36% growth. Its market share also went up from 9.43% to 10.50%, a 1.07% rise over the year.

Escorts Kubota (Agri Machinery Group) sold 6,624 units in July 2025. This is a small rise from 6,540 units in July 2024, with a 1.28% growth. But its market share dropped from 10.99% to 10.30%, showing a 0.69% fall year-on-year.

CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd (New Holland) showed the best growth among the top brands by selling 2,814 units, much higher than the 2,201 units sold last year. This is a 27.85% increase, and its market share also grew from 3.70% to 4.37%, gaining 0.68%.

Captain Tractors saw a small increase in sales. The company sold 484 units in July 2025, just a little more than 482 units in July 2024, showing a 0.41% growth. Its market share fell slightly from 0.81% to 0.75%, a 0.06% drop over the year.

Indo Farm Equipment sold 358 tractors in July 2025, up from 352 units in the same month last year. This gives a 1.70% growth, but the market share became a bit smaller, going from 0.59% to 0.56%, a 0.03% drop.

Preet Tractors had a fall in sales, with 345 units sold in July 2025. This is less than the 399 units sold in July 2024, showing a -13.53% decline. Its market share also dropped from 0.67% to 0.54%, a 0.13% fall over the year.

VST Tillers Tractors had a small rise in sales, selling 345 units in July 2025, slightly more than 340 units last year. This shows a 1.47% growth, but its market share fell a little from 0.57% to 0.54%, a 0.03% decrease.

ACE Tractors saw a big drop in sales, with only 157 units sold in July 2025 compared to 188 units in July 2024. This is a -16.49% fall, and its market share went down from 0.32% to 0.24%, a 0.07% drop year-on-year.

SDF India had one of the highest growth percentages among small brands. It sold 62 units in July 2025, more than the 50 units sold last year. This is a 24.00% growth, and its market share went up slightly from 0.08% to 0.10%, a 0.01% rise.

The tractor industry grew by 8.05% in July 2025, supported by strong kharif sowing activity and improving rural market conditions. While brands like New Holland, John Deere, and TAFE posted notable gains, a few players, such as Preet and ACE, experienced declining sales and shrinking market share. The competition remains active as brands aim to capture a larger share in a recovering market.
