New Holland harvest record in Brazil

Operating a New Holland CR 10.90 IntelliSense harvester in original configuration, grain producer Ricardo Basso from Brazil, harvested an impressive 481.2 tons in 8 consecutive hours, setting a new record. The record was certified by RankBrasil, an independent organization that has been approving national records since 1999.

“It’s not easy to break a record like that. It’s a very tough challenge. We expected that it would be easier, but it wasn’t. There are so many variables that needed to work out for it to happen. But it was very enjoyable. Everyone was committed to breaking the record. I was very happy to have succeeded,” explains Basso from Bahia State.

“We are very proud to be able to take part in the achievement of this new record, which is also a record for Brazilian agriculture. New Holland strives to provide our customers with innovative products and services that make it possible to optimize work in the field, reduce costs and increase productivity, making better use of the increasingly narrow operating windows. With solutions such as CR IntelliSense, which has artificial intelligence technology on board, we are helping Brazilian agriculture to reveal all its strength, breaking records every day,” says Márcio Contreras, New Holland’s Commercial Marketing Director for Latin America.

Equipped with a New Holland by MacDon 50-foot Draper platform, the CR 10.90 IntelliSense covered an area of 131 hectares, harvesting the equivalent of 8,020 bags of soybeans in total (more than 1,000 bags/h), operating at an average speed of 11.1 km/h and with a loss percentage of just 0.4%. The previous record, recorded in 2017 on a property in Formosa do Rio Preto (BA), was also achieved by a New Holland machine: the CR 8.90, which harvested 439.7 tons of soybeans in 8 consecutive hours. At the time, the average operating speed was 8.5 km/h.

According to Adílio Campolina, regional manager for New Holland dealer Western Services BA/PI at PME Máquinas, the record-breaking harvester is a machine from customer’s current use and the challenge was to leave it in the best possible condition in order to obtain the desired performance. “As well as being a businessman and farmer, Ricardo Basso is always involved in the operation. He knows the crop very well and knows where he can demand more from the machine. The sum of all this, the planning combined with the knowledge of the producer, was the main point in making this record possible,” he says.

As a 100% connected machine, the harvest information was monitored in real time . “It was a harvest in real conditions, in a real area, in which the machine delivered, in addition to the quality of the grain, the robust performance that was expected of it,” says Mauro Maraia, Tactical Marketing Specialist for Harvesters at New Holland.

About CR IntelliSense

The largest machine produced in Brazil, the CR 10.90 IntelliSense is designed for harvesting large production areas. With artificial intelligence technology, it allows the operator to choose between different harvesting strategies according to the conditions of the crop and the objective to be achieved.

The IntelliSense system features an even more precise harvesting concept, which helps to increase harvesting efficiency. In addition, the CR line comes standard with a more spacious and comfortable cab, LED lighting, on-board telemetry and a “stone” protection system, among other technologies.

IntelliSense technology has been used in harvesters produced by New Holland in Europe since 2018 and has become a success due to the ease of operation and precision it brings. In addition to the CR 10.90, the system comes standard on the CR 9.90, and is optional for the CR 7.90 and CR 8.90.
