Foldable bars on Kuhn seeders

Kuhn completes its range of foldable seeding bars with new models featuring Suffolk coulters (BTFR 5010) or single disc coulters (BTFR 5020) and a 5 m working width.

The BTFR 5010 seeding bar has a row spacing of 15 cm. It is equipped with low-maintenance Suffolk coulter seeding units. The coulter pressure is adjustable up to 25kg to maintain sufficient seeding depth, including in heavy clay or sticky soils. The distribution of the coulters in 3 rows spaced 33 cm apart make it easier for them to pass in plant residues as well as in humid or stony conditions. This new model, with a working width of 5 m, complements the already existing 6 m version.

The BTFR 5020 seeding bar is available with a row spacing of 12.5 or 15 cm. It is equipped with single disc coulter seeding units with a large diameter disc (Ø 327 mm) for perfect furrow opening. Its slight inclination helps minimize soil spray into the row. A cast iron coulter share placed on the side of the disc consolidates the furrow and places the seed precisely in the ground. These seeding units are distributed over two rows spaced 27 cm apart for easier passage in humid conditions or in the plant residue. The coulter pressure is adjustable up to 32 kg. This new model, with a working width of 5 m, complements the already existing models in 4.5 and 6 m.

Characterized by their versatility, these new seeding bars can adapt to difficult conditions. Hydraulic adjustments of seeding depth and coulter pressure provide optimal user comfort. A standard lower stop allows precise control of the seeding depth, even in the case of heterogeneous plots that can go from clay soil to more loamy soil. It also represents an advantage when seeding at shallow depths with significant pressure. The distribution head of these new seeding bars is fitted with Vistaflow valves allowing 2*2 row tramlining. For improved monitoring and universal tramlining, it can be optionally equipped with Vistaflow valves on all rows.

These seeding bars are fitted to the roller frame of the HR 5030 RCS power harrow. This configuration ensures excellent ground following, limits overhang and brings the center of gravity of the tractor as close as possible. Combined with the TF 1512 ISOBUS front hopper, with a capacity of 1,500 litres (2000 litres with extension), these seeding combinations form a balanced unit allowing to prepare the seedbed and sow in a single pass. Sowing management is carried out via a single ISOBUS terminal.

These new models complete Kuhn’s range of folding pneumatic seed drill combinations which now consist of models featuring Suffolk coulters, single-disc coulters and Seedflex 1000 seeding units with a working width of 4 to 6 m depending on the model. They will be able to meet the needs of contractors and cereal farms in terms of versatility and adaptability.
