Väderstad has made its full line of Tempo high-speed planters available for sale in the USA, starting June 1, 2024. This includes the all-new Tempo K model, a 24-row planter with low-compaction tracks and 30-inch row spacing.

The Tempo K features a 150-bushel central fill system and optional 1,500-gallon liquid carrying capacity. Manufactured at Väderstad’s U.S. headquarters in Wahpeton, North Dakota, the Tempo K is designed specifically for the conditions and needs of many American farmers.

The Tempo is a line of high-speed planters focused on providing exact seed spacing and consistent seed depth at speeds of 8 to 12 miles per hour or more, as conditions allow. It uses technology to maintain planting precision regardless of external influences such as speed, vibrations, slopes, or varying field conditions.

In addition to corn and soybeans, the Tempo offers precision with small-seeded crops, such as sugar beets and canola, even at high speeds up to 10 miles per hour. An optional small seeds kit aids in planting these crops with added stop wheels and specialized closing wheels to maintain consistent seed placement at shallow depths.

To achieve a high level of precision, the Tempo line features Väderstad’s PowerShoot technology, which uses positive air pressure to guide the seed from the meter down to the soil. This practical, effective method of ensuring exact seed placement at high speeds eliminates the maintenance concerns of extra motors, belts, or brushes to accomplish the same outcome.

The row units have individual electric drives, and the iPad-based control system, Väderstad E-Control, wirelessly connects to the planter enabling full access to its functions and data in real-time. With a touch of a button, operators are able to alter the seed rate, monitor planting performance and more. Additionally, E-Control makes calibration and settings adjustments quick and easy. Its list of features includes automatic singulation, curve compensation, as well as active hydraulic row unit downforce.

During spring 2024, several Tempo planters have been active in the Midwest. Together with dealership partners, Tempo K planters are planting corn and soybean at farms in Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota. Meanwhile, the Tempo L has been planting sugar beets, corn, and soybeans in North Dakota and northern Minnesota. Switching from one crop to another is quick and easy with the Tempo.

In addition to the Tempo K, the line includes the Tempo F 6-8, Tempo L 8-32, and Tempo V 6-12. Each planter features the same row units and technologies, but with different row spacings, fertilizer capabilities, and other configurations to meet a wide variety of needs. The Tempo line will be featured at multiple trade shows this summer/fall such as FarmFest (Redwood Falls, MN), Farm Progress Show (Boone, IA) and the Big Iron Farm Show (West Fargo, ND).
