BKT supports hospital in India

Innovative solutions serving the people, and the entire community. This is the commitment that BKT has demonstrated since its foundation and continues to strengthen it year after year. One more step in this direction has been taken.

The company attended the official inauguration of the world’s only automated joint-replacement system, namely the Meril Cuvis Robotics System, which BKT had donated to the KEM Hospital located in Mumbai’s Parel district. It is one of India’s oldest and largest public hospitals, which was founded in 1925 in memory of the British Monarch King Edward VII.

This innovative robotic system is going to further enrich the Department of Orthopaedics of the Center of Robotics Excellence (CORE) at the King Edward Memorial Hospital. This most advanced piece of surgical equipment is able to perform a 3D knee-joint surgery and precise incision surgery, providing accurate results based on the patient’s specific needs.

“I want to express my gratitude for this gesture by the BKT Foundation, which will benefit not only our hospital but the entire population in the long run. This device will, indeed, enable us to serve more people by providing targeted surgeries that are totally free of charge. All we ask for is an admission fee at the hospital of only 10 rupees, which is really negligible compared to the unaffordable costs of knee-joint-replacement surgeries in private hospitals.” comments Dr. Sangeeta Ravat, Neurologist and Dean of the KEM Medical College, who was present at the inauguration ceremony.

“At BKT, we consider ourselves a big family whose common goal is everyone’s growth. After all, our guiding motto on this journey is ‘Growing Together,’ and this is exactly both the principle and value that drives us in every choice we make. With this donation, we were again inspired by our sense of family and wanted to do something meaningful that will positively impact the entire community. This state-of-the-art technology will make it possible to perform over 300 surgeries in a year – at no cost and with high precision, thus avoiding potential additional surgeries.” – says Mr. Arvind Poddar, Chairman and Managing Director of BKT.

As a part of its CSR initiative, BKT has also assured ten years of equipment maintenance and interventions for the replacement of parts or components to the hospital.
